The Hattiesburg Zoo in Mississippi has announced the arrival of a male blue duiker baby. Blue duikers are the smallest species of antelope, standing at about a foot high. The newborn currently measures 7 inches in length and weighs only 18 ounces. If you become a member of the Hattiesburg Zoo’s Adopt-an-Animal program, you’ll be entered into a drawing to name the baby antelope.  The name will be announced December 31.

In the wild, blue duikers inhabit the forests of central and southern Africa. With widespread and abundant populations, they are not considered endangered by the IUCN.
